Commitment is not a popular word these days. Many shy from making a commitment in case they are straight-jacketed or coerced into buying into something they do not want. Making a commitment to something then goes against much of the grain of modern life. It is counter-cultural. The experience down the centuries of many people close to God is that the Holy Spirit honours our commitments, even if we falter from time to time.  What is important is our intention in these commitments.

In joining us we ask that a commitment is made annually to the Extra Mile. For an intentional community this should be done in front of someone in leadership from the local church. This is because our rule is there to support not only ourselves but the local Christian community. If you are doing this as an individual then we suggest that if you cannot make a commitment in front of a minister then you do this via Skype.
